Composed by Jovino Santos Neto. A carioca (from the city of Rio de Janeiro) samba I composed some years ago, thinking of my hometown. Once the groove is set up, it builds up on a series of dynamic landscapes. The title is a reference to the location where escaped slaves built a community of 20,000 people in northeastern Brazil in the 17th century.
